Consumer involvement in research
COMBINE Vice coordinator Christina Opava has a special responsibility for patient participation within COMBINE. The Swedish Rheumatism Association has approved an application on the establishment of a patient advisory board within COMBINE.
As of spring 2011, 19 patient research partners with rheumatic disease have been trained and the vast majority of them are involved in COMBINE projects.
The collaboration between researchers and patient representatives/consumers that now takes place within COMBINE is unique for Swedish medical research. Christina Opava and Lars Klareskog have been invited to speak about consumer involvement in research both nationally and internationally.
