Christina Opava is a Professor in Physiotherapy at Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm. She holds a Ph.D. from Karolinska Institutet. Within COMBINE Professor Opava both serves as vice coordinator and is responsible for consumer involvement in research.
Her work has been published in a number of leading academic journals, including Arthritis & Rheumatism, Journal of Rheumatology, Physical Therapy, Lupus and Musculoskeletal Care.
Professor Opavas current research projects are “High-intensity strength training among post-menopausal women with and without rheumatoid arthritis”, “Integration of patients´ innovations in a professional-supported web-based intervention targeting physical activity” and “Long-term physical activity in rheumatoid arthritis as regards health perception, disability, cardiovascular risk and underlying mechanisms related to inflammation and pain” The research of Professor Opava and her group is performed in a multi-professional environment involving physiotherapists, rheumatologists, psychologists, nurses, and exercise and pain physiologists.
